Clackamas County Water Environment Services Oak Lodge Sanitary District In partnership with the following jurisdictions: City of Gladstone, City of Happy Valley, City of Milwaukie, City of Oregon City, City of West Linn, Clackamas County Service District #1, Clackamas County Tri-City Service District In rapidly growing North Clackamas County, we need to expand our wastewater treatment facilities in order to protect water quality, the environment and public health In 2003, Clackamas County Service District #1, Oak Lodge Sanitary District and Tri-City Service District launched a Wastewater Treatment Options Study to determine the best possible course of action for the future of wastewater treatment in our County Five options were evaluated and a preferred alternative for a regional system emerged The regional system is known as the Clearwater Project Under the Clearwater Project: · The Tri-City Water Pollution Control Plant in Oregon City would be expanded · The treatment plants at Oak Lodge and Kellogg Creek would be taken out of service · A landfill on the Tri-City property would be cleaned up and could be redeveloped into baseball and sports/soccer fields · New landscaping would be put in place throughout the property and the Trolley Trail could be developed as part of a transmission corridor · The City of Milwaukie would have new waterfront space to move ahead with redevelopment · The Oak Grove community would have additional Willamette River waterfront residential property available for development and/or expansion of River Villa Park The study shows that the Regional System will reduce operating costs Wastewater flows will be consolidated for treatment at a single location and the new technology used for the expanded Tri-City Water Pollution Control Plant will do a much better job of removing pollutants in the wastewater This means that water quality in the Willamette River will also be improved Tell us what you think! Although the Regional System has been identified as a preliminary preferred alternative, a final decision has not been made Elected officials from throughout the region must hear from the public before they make a decision on whether or not to move forward in this direction . |
