All measurements are approximate. Numbers in the 100 to 130' range are for the full road width. Lower numbers of 65' and below are from the center of McLoughlin or from a specific point. |
McLoughlin and Oak Grove Bv. |
This is the BRT plan that was released to the public on 2-5-2002. The plan is to widen McLoughlin from 110' (+/-) to 130' at major intersections to create a separate bus bypass lane. The pictures and descriptions show what will happen to your business if you allow BRT to be built to their specifications. Metro has said that the plan can be changed; however, they are only offering you minor changes by moving the road or a driveway a few feet to pacify you. As a community we must stand together and tell Metro "NO BUILD" to BRT or we will be stuck with the results of increased congestion, job losses, and business that will be destroyed because of this project. You must speak up loud to put an end to the destruction of our community. Remember the quote from Clackamas County, "Silence Is Considered Acceptance" |

65' To post 45' Curb The BRT plan calls for 61' road width at IHOP and 62' at KFC. IHOP New sidewalk and street will take the front 17' of landscape area (from curb). KFC New sidewalk and street will be within 3' of sign. New limited access driveway will block customers who use the drive through and parking lot from going north at this driveway. |
Gladstone Florist & Cash Store The BRT plan call for 65' street width at this point. These businesses will lose 11' (from sidewalk edge) reducing the parking lot size. Also they will receive a restricted access driveway that will block customers coming from the south or going north. Customers that use the Oak Grove Bv. driveway know that its almost impossible to go east to McLoughlin with the current level of traffic that backs up at this intersection. |
7-Eleven BRT street width will be 65' at this point. New sidewalk will be within 1' of the sign and will narrow the parking lot making it hard to get in and out of the parking spaces. The sign may have to be removed because it will over hang the sidewalk. The new limited access driveway will restrict customers from the north on McLoughlin turning left. Customers that use the Oak Grove Bv. driveway know that its almost impossible to go west to McLoughlin with the current level of traffic that backs up at this intersection. |
64' to sign post Key Bank BRT plan calls for 63' street width at this point. The new sidewalk will be within 1' of this sign post. This sign will have to be removed because it would now overhang the sidewalk and not meet building codes. 66' to sign post |
58' to Tree New BRT sidewalk will be back to 63'. This will eliminate 3 (30 year old) trees and part of the landscape area. |
55' To Curb Lew's New BRT sidewalk will take 5 to 10' (from the curb) off the front of this parking lot, and block this driveway. Parking spaces near the street will be removed. |
54' Sidewalk Edge Jack In The Box New BRT bus loading platform will be located to the right within 3' of the building. A new limited access driveway will be moved south and will take out part of the parking strip. Loss of at least 4 parking spaces. |
53' To post 40' To curb Jiffy Lube New BRT plan calls for 65' street width at this point. This business will lose the front of their parking area and their turn around space. The driveway entrance you see here will be re-located 130' to the north. This will be a major inconvenience for customers to find their way into this business because they will now have to use Fred Meyers parking lot to gain entrance. |
